The Newburyport Choral Society is a non-profit organization funded by the generosity of its many individual and business sponsors.
Our sponsors share our love of music and contribute to NCS’ mission of bringing choral masterpieces to our local community. Chorus members’ dues and concert revenues account for less than half of NCS’ operating budget, which is why we rely on the generosity of individuals and companies.
There are many ways to support NCS:
● inviting friends and family to attend our concerts
● participation in our auction or other fundraising events
● business ads in our program
● business sponsorships
● individual donations
● contributions to a scholarship or special fund

Advertisements in our Concert Program also appear on our website, and promote good will through the support of art and culture in the greater Newburyport area.
Advertisements run for one year, over two consecutive concert series, totaling four concert performances, and create awareness of your business to approximately 2,000 patrons.
*Deadlines for submitting for concert program advertisements are six weeks prior to the performance date.
Want to Contribute to a Special Fund?
Memorial Funds provide individuals with an opportunity to make a contribution in memoriam or to celebrate a special individual. Contributions can be made at any time, and are acknowledged in our Concert programs. If you wish to donate in honor of a singer or in memory of a special person in your life just note that in your Individual or Business donation form (above). Guest Conductorship
A guest conductor conducts a holiday carol at NCS’ Winter Concert. They are supported by a donation from their company/employer, family members, or a group of friends to commemorate a special occasion. What a great way to acknowledge someone!
Betty Gillette Scholarship Fund
The Newburyport Choral Society Betty Gillette Scholarship is named for one of our beloved founding members who sang with the chorus from 1934 to 2009. Each year $1,000 is awarded to a High School senior who is planning to major in music in college.

Dr. Gerald Weale Memorial Singers’ Fund
Dr. Gerald Weale was the Music Director of NCS for 27 years. The Dr. Gerald Weale Memorial Singers’ Fund pays for singers who have financial need and who want to join as a singer.
In Memory of Karen Norcross
Karen Norcross RN loved singing as a soprano in the Choral Society. She worked as an Emergency Room nurse at Salem Hospital. She watched over our chorus during performances. Karen’s memorial fund has donated an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) to the Belleville Congregational Church community.
Joanne Johnson Memorial Fund
Joanne (Lowell) Johnson was a cherished Alto 2 section member for 47 years who passed away in 2019. Joanne’s devotion to the Choral Society was boundless, serving as President, Treasurer and Development Manager, alternating at times in these roles with her husband and tenor, Ralph, both enormous benefactors of NCS. This special memorial fund honors Joanne's memory and decades of service.
